Embossed Vellum Card - inspired by Keren Baker

This week Keren Baker was back at Paperartsy for her final GD stint - and her bookmark on the second day (here) has inspired me to this quick and simple card

I don't have the tulip stamps Keren used (why?!) so when I was rummaging through my Paperartsy stamp box, (overflowing again) I came across the dragonfly on HP1104 which has script on it that would emboss well.

I stamped the dragonfly twice on vellum and white embossed it. I used my new Fibralo markers to add colour to the front of the vellum, and a damp paint brush to blend the colour
I used Wild Honey to stamp the 'journey' word from ESN03 and a white pen to add dots to the letters - the light is so  bad today for photos but it does show up in the first one - then added distress inks to the top and bottom (bundled sage and a little mowed law; tumbled sage and a little broken china)

I used matte medium  to fix the dragonflies and a heavy acrylic block to hold them in place till the glue held.

  5. Holy cow, Helen! Those dragonflies are gorgeous. I've tried embossing vellum before and all I got was a huge bumpy mess. I must get too close, or something, because my vellum NEVER looked this good. This is truly lovely.

I think you misunderstood my message about this Saturday (yesterday) at the Craft Barn. I entered not long after you last time, having seen the words on your blog, but I worried that some who normally enter didn't have a chance to this time. Maybe I need to revise the message I wrote (grin).

  12. Sorry I'm so late, Helen! This week has been a bit hectic with helping mum adjust to her new bathroom!!! This is lovely! It's great to see the Fibralos in use. I love the simplicity and composition! This is such a beautiful CAS card. What with art dolls in the making and mum finding her new bathroom challenging, needless to say I didn't get round to making a Keren card :( Julie Ann xxx
