Christmas cards- inspired by Jo Myhill for Paperartsy

Well, having failed miserably to get any crafting done last week, let alone for any challenges, I was determined to do better this time round... but decided to try and adapt something for a Christmas card. After all, it's November now and I am once again, behind schedule...

The lovely and extremely talented Jo Myhill has been back at Paperartsy making wonderful projects and her third one, based on posh patterned wallpaper, got me thinking... and searching my Christmas stamps for something I could use as an all over pattern...This is what I came up with.

I painted a small card blank with Spanish Mulberry Fresco, added a layer of crackle glaze.
and Sherbet as my top layer, used a piece of cut and dry foam. Got some very small crackles.  I used the Jo Firth-Young mini stamp MN05 and Victorian Velvet distress ink for a muted all over pattern.
and some die cuts left plain white.
the sentiment is from Darcy's EDY04 set, on a piece of Smoothy paper painted Spanish Mulberry and a layer of Claret blended over while still wet, then a purple limited edition Treasure Gold, and like Jo sanded back, before stamping the sentiment.

finished it with some little black gems.

Thanks, Jo for some great projects again this week, and I am so glad I managed to make one fit on a Christmas card!!

  8. Brilliant way to join the challenge and cross a Christmas card off the list at the same time. The tiny crackles and muted background stamping work really well together.

  9. What a great colour scheme! You are so brave working directly onto the craft blank, but it worked!

  10. Love the subtle rosy glow of the Sherbet and the Victorian Velvet - the weathered crackle gives the whole thing a fab shabby chic look.

I'm behind again after a crazy work week, but looking forward to catching up (with Craftyblogland and some sleep) over the next few days!

Hope you're having a lovely Sunday!
