Linda's countdown - 10

The lucky lady Linda is off to Ranger U in 10 days time and has started a "10 day tag countdown" on her blog and I thought I'd join in as I just got in the post today, these new Paperartsy stamps (Hotpick 6) aren't they gorgeous!

Tag is wild honey and crushed olive (oh, I've missed you, wild honey!) and the "sanctuary" image is overstamped in wild honey. I stamped another couple of the stamps from the set, on some scrap paper and added them to the tag.

Have fun, Linda.

Sunday Stamper - the Letter

Whilst I was waiting for Hels (impatiently!) to post her Sunday Stamper challenge today, I was playing with my Big Shot and the Tattered Florals die, cutting out some more flowers, and made this tag.  Just as I was about to write a post for it, I hit "refresh" and up came the challenge - to use letters in yur work!!!!!!!

I wanted to use the grungepaper flower from my first use of the Big Shot, and as I liked the colours on it so much, I didn't want to layer anything on top, so made some more flowers with mulberry paper, plain paper, some more grungepaper and a sheet of the sunflower napkins I found a few weeks ago.

I coloured a tag with crushed olive and overstamped the alphabet in the same colour (doesn't it look different!)  and added the tattered florals and some maya road blossoms for contrast.

So, here is my spookily made entry for Sunday Stampers!

Tattered Florals

So, I got to play with my Tattered Florals die. I cut some flowers from some paper (I cut my Timmy vintage shabby paper stack - oh no!!!), some grungepaper, mulberry paper and a patterned paper and did a bit of layering:
Then tonight, I re-layered them in different combinations and inked a tag (victorian velvet DI) and overstamped it with Tim's alphabet (the large one from one of his earlier sets)., stamped some Wendy text stamps and added the tattered flower!  In the top right I used a leftover (see, I do sometimes!) bit of the Tim paper to cover a stray grungepaper flower I had hanging around (and again, leftovers!) and some fibres.

I didn't like the bow I tied in the fibres but the photo has come out ok (wandering around the flat trying to find enough natural light....) so I'm showing you.

I couldn't get a decent close up but as you see, I did undo the bow.

I will keep the other pieces to use for something else soon! I particularly like the large grungepaper flower that I coloured with crushed olive and rusty hinge DI's and stamped with Tim's alphabet - just got to decide how to use it now!

Happy Anniversary WOYWW

The phenomenen that is What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday is a year old. I only started taking part in this a couple of months ago but have become so hooked.  It is the brainchild of Julia Dunnit and you can find her via the link above.  A few weeks ago she suggested that people make something for the anniversary, so here is my WOYWWAC piece.
(not very inspiring I know)
I did a failsafe in case I ran out of time, and printed off the logo to cover a pen pot and made a WOYWW rose to stick on the front,
out of paper - I printed 6 small copies of the logo at work (my printer at home isn't working), guessing at the size but they were just the right size for the small Wendy V flower.
You can see it a bit better in the photo below.
Then at the weekend I decided that was a rubbish effort and made this tag - trying to reproduce the colours in distress inks as best I could, which I haven't succeeded with as you can see!

I've found some more drawers you haven't seen yet, too, (I had to crawl under the table that my computer is on to do this. Well, not crawl right under, but move a load of crap and get right down on the floor.  It's also not taken today as I had to make sure I did it in daylight. However, there's no moving these drawers.  They contain (left hand side, green - embossing powders (rarely used - all sorts of colours, sparkles, you name it) glitters, beads, etc etc) and (right hand side, red - glues, scissors, daubers, sponges, pens (probably all run dry they've been there so long)
Finally, my new toy - couldn't let that pass without record could I!
The Tattered Floral dies only turned up yesterday (Tuesday) so I haven't had time to play yet!

I hope I will be able to get round you all today and see what you've all made. No doubt your anniversary pieces will all be stunning.
(EDIT - sorry about all the gaps, I can't get rid of them!)

Sunday Stampers - Wings of a Dove

This week's Sunday Stampers challenge is "Wings of a Dove" to use wings of any sort in your art. I've got lots of angels and butterflies and things but couldn't think what to do for this one, Hels' frame is sooo good!

anyhow, I have done this square tag, (crushed olive and forest moss) and stamped the paperartsy moth in barn door and chipped sapphire. I put the tree through the cuttlebug (yes, not the big shot!) on grungepaper coloured with rusty hinge and crushed olive) and added another moth and the Wendy V bird (never used before!) also on grungepaper.  I have highlighted the leaves with a green gel pen.

I haven't done anything today - apart from the dull weather - I have been watching Mary Poppins - still can't resist it even now - I went to see it when it first came out in 1964 (I was 5!) and have loved it ever since.

Two awards in one day.

Crikey! I logged on yesterday just before I was going out for the evening and found this award from Hels', with these instructions:

1 Express gratitude to the blogger who bestowed the award unto you... Copious, grovelling …I am not worthy… gratitudes  - ok, here goes. Hels' is the most amazingly talented crafter I know. AND her blog makes me laugh.
2 Display the picture on your blog proudly.

3 Be nice and provide a link to the person who gave it to you.
well, you all know her but -  http://pinkleart.blogspot.com/

4 Tell up to six outrageous lies about yourself, and at least one outrageous truth, or switch it around and tell six outrageous truths and one outrageous lie. I'm not telling which is which :)  This will be hard. I was brought up not to tell lies, and I'm very boring really so there aren't any outrageous truths... or are there???

5 Nominate seven creative writers who might be into doing this. (see below)

6 Post links to the seven blogs you nominate and let the owners of those blogs know. (this will take ages, blogger seems slow this morning))

So here are my Lies and/or Truths....

1. When I was 16 I used to tell my parents I was going shopping with friends but really we'd go to football matches.
2. I have never smoked - anything!
3. I always save all my spare cash and never splurge it on crafty stash.
4. I once got knocked over by a motorbike and broke my collar bone.
5. I can't pass a bookshop without going in and buying a book.
6. I can't stand smoked salmon.

(Told you I was boring!)

I am passing this award on to the following lovely people:

1. Carmen.
2. Kay
3. Julia D
4. Wendy
5. Lori
6. Paula
7. Linda

and this morning, I have had this award, from Tracy
Beautiful Blogger Award

and I have to tell 10 things about myself and pass it on to 10 more people  - yikes. After the statements I made above, this may be really hard!  Can I cheat?

1. Some of the comments above may (or may not) be true!
2. I love visiting gardens and taking photos but don't garden myself.
3. There was one year at my senior school when 3 of my cousins and my sister were all there too
4. I've never watched Sex and the City
5. I really do love reading - anywhere except the bath
6. I always do the lottery  - just in case!
7. I wish I lived in the Tardis - for the space, not the time travel (altough...!)
8. I know I don't see as much of my family as I should do.
9. I had a really lovely night out yesterday with 6 friends one of whom I haven't seen for 17 years. Thanks girls.
10. I want to go to New York one day.

I can't single out another 10 beautiful bloggers to pass this on to - you are all fabulous, so please, everyone who visits this blog, take the award!  I know this is cheating, sorry!

2nd post of the day - Stampotique (purple) -SDC8

Back with another challenge - SDC 8 - to use Stampotique and purple to make a card. I love Stampotique stamps AND purple, so had to do this one!

I covered a cardstock base with this purple dotty paper from Craftwork Cards. The Stampotique girls were stamped on white cardstock and coloured (milled lavendar and dusty concord) I cut Maisie right out and layered them on the card.

I don't have any Stampotique sentiments so had to make up my own - this is the title of one of my favourite books when I was little.

I finished the card with some flowers which I added some dusty concord ink to and some glitter.

Scroll down to see my other post today.
