WOYWW 510 - spray time!

Time already for another desk-day  for WOYWW  week 510.   follow the link to find out more (though I can't believe you don't know!)

Had some more happy mail, the distress oxide sprays landed.

they arrived at work at the end of last week and at the weekend I had a little play...
the green journal page lots of you liked last week,
I added some sprays (stuck to the blue and green theme,  used Peeled Paint and Faded Jeans)

for the dragonflies (using new stamps from a couple of weeks ago) I stamped onto the page (bumpy) and onto tissue and painted it with Fossilised Amber spray

then I used some mop up paper
that I'd  been using under the dragonflies,

and just played.

I like the drops I splattered on and let dry,

the colours are a little more intense in real life, although they are the paler colours I have used so far.

the oxide sprays seemed to dry quite fast which was good as it is only thin copy paper so I didn't want it to disintegrate whilst I was drying it

added some stamping in similar coloured archival inks

I'll either use it as a masterboard and cut/tear it up for other projects or I might use some of it for die cutting.   It will need a bit of gentle flattening as it's a little wrinkly!

Or, when my new stencils arrive (ahem)  I may add to it....
watch this space!

There was of course, a visit to Kew on Saturday (pics here)

  1. Oh Helen, i'm undecided about the sprays still but they look so good. I'm trying to use up stash that I have had for so long but it's becoming harder and harder to resist these. I already have an idea of what i'd go for first :)) Love your dragon Fly page, I bet that faded jeans really does pop amongst the greens.

  2. Loving the sprays Helen. I haven't cracked mine open yet as I've been playing with the new Distress archivals but I'm certainly inspired by your efforts: they are great! Happy WOYWW. Sarah #3

  3. Happy WOYWW. I have never got on with sprays - too messy and patchy for my liking. However, I love all the colours. Great to see your gorgeous journal pages. Kew must be amazing at this time of year - so many daffodils etc? Ali x #9

  7. Morning Helen. I'm not surprised there will be another visit to Kew - I've already been to Bodnant several times this year... and I know which I would prefer - Kew rather than work!! The butterfly page is great - love the muted colours - and the "mop up" is brilliant! Enjoy putting that to good use.
    Take care. God bless.

  9. me and spray inks have a love hate relationship so I won't be buying but I do like the look you have achieved. What a beautiful dragonfly set of pages and what gorgeous mop up papers.

  10. The colors of these inks look delicate to me... a bit 'worn', which is beautiful for some projects I think. Have fun playing with them all! Happy woyww and a big hug from stormy Holland. Marit #19

  19. Hi Helen, love what ou've done with your mop-up sheet, looks really beautiful - I often find I prefer my mop-up sheet to what I've actually been working on and they do make great collage papers don't they? :o) Have a great week, Annie C #21

  20. Oh youre right, that was an enabling post! I love the effect of the bigger blobs of spray, how the colour intensifies round the blob edge - hmm. Yep, like the mop up sheet almost as much as the journal page. I still dont understand how your ou know when a page has been had enough or too little, that bit is a skill i just cant acquire....i get to a point that I like it and then am t for the stencils - That paper Is sort of asking for it dont you think?!

  23. I brought my Oxide sprays back from NYC unopened (they only arrived a few days before I was due to leave in the end, so I thought I might as well keep them safely sealed in my suitcase), but I really must find some play time now I'm back. I love your dragonfly page - dreamy soft colours and great layers.
