WOYWW 146?

Welcome to the first WOYWW of Spring - the year is flying by and whilst I know there's still snow about in the States here we are blessed with spring sunshine and early blooms in our gardens and parks.

This is the state of my floor yesterday evening - happy post ripped open - and I know I wasn't going to buy anything else before the Stamp show at Alexandra Palace (Ally Pally) in April, I couldn't resist these... can you blame me?

a couple of Tim Holtz's new release stamps - my excuse is they were a very good price and I couldn't wait till Ally Pally!
The white capped pen is a textile pen - my good blog buddy Gabrielle and I have this idea to decorate a tshirt each to wear with our blog names for "instant recognition" (ha ha) at Ally Pally - so I've got a pen, now to find a tshirt and try to scrawl "stampingbyh" on it legibly and maybe even neatly... we shall see! I have of course my WOYWW badge too....
This is the week also for our next DragonsDream Tag it On challenge - the book chosen by my teamie Silvia is "The Thornbirds" by Colleen McCullough and the theme is Australia or the outback.
I was stumped on this for some time but found a torn out page of an old office diary with maps on, so used the Australia page (I knew they'd come in handy sometime...never throw stuff away, see, it works!)
The flower is made with a piece of paper fromone of Tim's paper stacks, and the tattered floral die - careflully positioned to get the Australia map too.

In my mind I associate hot sun and sailing with Australia, (I know it's not all like that) so these are the stamps I used to meet the challenge requirement (Stampscapes) and the anchor** is from my stash, coloured with rust alcohol ink. **what am I saying. it's a wheel.. meant to go back and change this yesterday - Julia is the only one kind enough to notice!!
Please come and play with us - we'd love to see you!

  9. Could you use your Tim stamps to stamp on your t-shirt as well? You could stamp all over, leaving a clear rectangle to write your logo in. Just a thought? Like the stamps very much, especially the text ones :)

  11. Great tag Helen and what a lovely stash you have just got. I don't think I could have resisted these had they been at a good price.
wish I was going to AP? and meeting up with you but hey ho, one day.
I used little pots of Dylon dye when I stamped on my t-shirts (they are on my blog) which I got quite cheaply from Dunelm Mill (or Hobbycraft).
Thanks for commenting on my blog.

  13. Beginning to think that all WOYWWers have no willpower whatsoever - me included. We all promise not to buy more and then all of a sudden little packages pop through the letter box, or into our shopping bags. Can see why you couldn't resist buying these lovely stamps, just hope you have saved enough for Ally Pally, and wish I could come too.

I loved reading the Thorn Birds years ago and with living in Oz at the moment it was all very topical.

  24. Lucky you to go to Ally Pally! Tip for the T-shirt thing...its what I teach... print it out from the computer, put it inside the Shirt and trace it on with a soft pencil like a 6B then you can ink it in. If you can't see through the shirt then pin the paper in and stick your shirt to the window with masking tape and trace the lettering.

  41. Great idea for the t shirt - you have to do front and back though, and you can't cover up all daY! I love the tag, and I have to say that my perception of Oz is pretty close to yours, but knowing that you've lost it a bit more than me makes me happy..I see no anchor, but a ships wheel! Oh you make me smile!

  44. Good luck with the T-shirt thing - a couple of years ago I wore one with I "heart" WOYWW emblazoned across the front, and didn't get a single nod. Other than from Hels of course, who was Demo-ing. Wish I was going though - would love a browse at all that stash!

Thanks for stopping by (and I love the tag by the way!)
