WOYWW 407 - 22 March

Another week has gone by without me blogging in between Workdesks... (unless you count the Kew post on Saturday)  so it's time again to join Julia for our weekly Wednesday desk hop

I seem to only be able to work in journals at the moment, and here is another one...

I'm going to do something I don't normally in my Wednesday posts, and take you through it in a couple of photos...

The first picture was going to be my desk shot..(part finished)

this is the first photo -  painted the page with Blood Orange Fresco paint, and a layer of gesso which turns it a kind of pinky colour.

I then tore some  pieces of Tim Holtz tissue wrap and glued it to the page and sealed with matte medium.

Then I stencilled black gesso over a small (left page) and large - well 6x6 (right page)  Seth Apter stencil/mask... so you just get a hint of the original pinky colour under the tissue...

I was in two minds about covering up the large butterfly but as you see, I did, and cut one of the smaller butterflies from the next run of the tissue wrap, and painted it on the back, with pink Frescos (Bubblegum and then Sherbert) and glued it to the bottom of the page.

this was going to be my other desk shot... the journal page from last week, sitting on top of my boxes of Fresco paints,

I've added some more to it, but don't have a close up...I might remember to do that for next week!

I'll leave it at that for today or I'll be in trouble with Queen Julia... thanks for stopping by, catch you later.

  5. Happy WOYWW - and thank you for your visit to my blog already. I love to see the stages that go into making a journal page. I struggle with the concept of covering up layers still - too many years of making cards! I adore Seth Apter - watch him on Periscope - and his designs are stash that could find their way into my craft room if I had the money! Ali x #10

  14. I was singing the music from the paper! Couldn't quite work out what it was, lol! All I know is that I always adore music as a background for journals or cards, it looks really great. I like the sentiment too...funnily enough I've just seen something on FB that was similar, along the lines of "Do something today that you'd thank yourself for in ten years time'. It got me thinking.....

  18. Hi Helen, your journalling is amazing. I don't journal and I think I now know why - I would have really hesitated to cover that pretty tissue paper with black gesso. I think I just don't have the nerves of steel required. Have a great, journalling, week ahead. Elizabeth x #30

  23. Glad you took photos on the way as I love the pink stage.
Glad you added a commentary as I wondered where the pink page had gone and I was looking at the butterflies and they were different and I was well confused on my tablet.
Much easier to see what has happened on the PC.
    Thanks for the visit BJ#29

  26. Oooh gorgeous pages, Helen! I love them both, and they are so different. Thank you for your great comment - I'm so glad you like my Infusions experiments. As for the house, we can only hope for the best. The damp expert is coming tomorrow at 9 a.m. to assess it and I'm just hoping he doesn't say the whole house has to come down!!! Our neighbour thinks it's confined to the corner in the cupboard but we shall see. Hopefully the insurance will cover the cost but we won't know till we've got a bit more info. As for Phoebe, it's a terrible worry but she did eat again this evening and doesn't seem too bad so we hope that the vet is wrong, and that whatever was blocking her has shifted. She's a bit subdued but otherwise OK I think.

    Happy WOYWW,
