I had an unexpected afternoon off on Tuesday so had a little time to play in my journal - now nearly full (which means I can start the next one, the big fabby one by Dyan Reaveley of Art From the Heart. not going to use it before this is full though!)
Anyhow, the journal pages went a little awry from how I intended so have abandoned them for now...
There's nothing particularly "wrong" with them, they just haven't worked for me, so far! I have had better results with spraying Dylusion inks through a stencil on these pages though - thanks mainly due to Sandra at the Crafty Boots fun day recently. (i.e spray less and from further away!)
However, this one I do like - just need to persuade my white pen to work so I can doodle on the leaves! It was very reluctant on the pages above, I think I've killed it!
(edit - doodling complete!)
Short and sweet from me today, so you can go and check out some more amazing desks.
If you have time, come back later for a new DragonsDream TIO challenge - subject is still a mystery!
Morning H, Nice pages there. Can't believe you're finishing one book off before starting the new, I'm not that disciplined. The white looks great. I struggle with them too but find I get better results if the background is properly dry before I start.

Spray less and from further away sounds just like the advice I need. And White pens can be a real pain can't they? Love both of your pages. BJ#7
ReplyDeletegreat looking journal pages! I have been thinking about buying Dyan Reavly's new journal but haven't as yet. Looking forward to seeing what you do in it! Thanks for sharing and I hope you have a great week. Vickie #3
ReplyDeleteWhat a difference that white pen made...Love the second look!
ReplyDeleteI like the first pink pages...they look so pretty.
Spray less and from further away is something I should do I think - I am definately a spray so its covered and saturated girl at the moment! love your finished page though the white really finishes it off nicely doesnt it. Thanks for sharing - Sunshine Girl #25
ReplyDeleteI too love the blue/green page - the colours are just perfect.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing
Sue
ooooooooo beautiful colour, patterning and doodling. The white pen really lifts the whole page doesn't it.
ReplyDeleteHow 'good' you are at finishing a journal! I have about 3 on the go all with just a few pages filled- wish I had your will power, it must be so much nicer being able to turn so many pages of one journal seeing the progression of thought over time.
Oh, I could live with that journal page on my wall - I love the greens, the tendrils, the leaves but most of all the fab sentiment. Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHugs, LLJ #32 xx
Love your new pages.
ReplyDeleteHugs,

ps hope you 'like' me :-) [see my blog for more info]
I am with LLJ in her comment above re the green page. Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteMust check out this DR journal - not heard of this and she is only a cock stride fro me - doh!
Glad you had an afternoon off and got to play, it's what all working girls need. HOpe the job front is on the up and up.
Hugs, Neet 29 xx
oh if only we could live the life we imagined! If we all did, the world would come to an end in four years...some one said that on the telly! Great page, love the colours, I keep saying I must have a go! and I will! Happy WOYWW
ReplyDeleteround about #21 I think!
((Lyn))
Lovely pages - you are soo good doing those art journals...I started my moleskin ages ago and only made about 10 pages - I should start again! Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteLots of hugs,
Cardarian
Good Morning Helen, what beautiful pages, so colourful too. I have never started mine. Enjoy your Day. Hugs Rita xx
ReplyDeleteSuper pages, love the colours and your white pen doodling is fab! I love doing that as it really makes things pop. I'm doing the same, playing at spraying through stencils with my inks, but I find I can't control it like Sandra does, if I stand too close it just ends up in a big fat mess, if I stand away I spray everything in sight! I have coffee & I'm off to snoop! Take care Zo xx 45
ReplyDeleteI do like your journal pages! And after a long search and not a few failures, I have finally got hold of two white pens which both seem to work VERY well. A Posca pen which is a thick pen, and a white Sharpie with a fine point. White pens have been rather disappointing up til now, but I'm very happy with both of these. Happy WOYWW and thanks for visiting.
ReplyDeleteI'm liking all those pages Helen. You are making me tempted to increase my supplies of Dyan's goodies.
ReplyDelete** Kate ** #74 possibly, I always forget to check !
Yes I am with LLJ - I could live with that design too - I love the green leafiness! Thanks for "liking" us. x Jo
ReplyDeleteI love that journal page - great colours Jacqui #79
ReplyDeleteThat Journal page is wonderful!

Hi Helen thanks for popping by to see me. I love the before and after shot of your finished page. The white pen doodling makes all the difference - fab job. Happy WOYWWW to you from Helen 37
ReplyDeleteI particularly like your leaf page -- the white pen made such a difference! It must be the contrast with the black -- really nice. I have an art journal, but haven't used it much. I tend to think I have to "make" something (card, LO, etc.) and don't take the time to just play. Thanks for popping over to visit me already! Happy WOYWW. ~ Laura #93
ReplyDeleteI like the pinky journal pages, the colour looks really nice, Love the leaf one though as green is my favourite colour and I'm an outdoorsy, nature kind of girl. I say football too, never soccer and it's petrol not gas! Oh and motorway, not freeway! The Americans often think I'm stroppy, they're probably right!

Glad you got your white pen to co-operate the page is beautiful. Hope the other pages work out for you soon too.
ReplyDeleteI'm so surprised you're uncertain about the pink pages... I think they're utterly gorgeous - such vivid colours, and great lettering and leaves - really exciting backgrounds... The greeny ones are also lovely, and the doodling looks great. Thanks for your visit, and happy WOYWW!
ReplyDeleteAlison x
Great journal pages, I like both. Love the boarder going on on the red pages, something will come to mind and you will go back to it. So hard to finish a journal at the end when there is a new on waiting LOL Not playing this week, just popped by to say hi. Happy WOYWW
ReplyDeleteHi Helen,
ReplyDeleteIsn't it amazing how much a bit of doodling with a white pen can add!
I'm glad to be joining in once again. I feel as though I'll be able to visit people this week, finally!
Hugs,
Kay (108) thanks for your visit!
I think the pages are all terrific, Helen! The really bright ones can stand up to a very bold sentiment in deepest black, maybe?
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting me already! Happy WOYWWing! Darnell #54
Love the green leafy page and the first two are showing a lot of promise. What an achievement to get this project completed - you are clearly a driven woman. Hugs, Buttons #43
ReplyDeletehi helen
ReplyDeletethe leaf page looks really good, especially when you had done the doodling, it really adds that something special.
thanks for visiting not sure what I am going to do about the photo space yet I know LLj said it is only £4 but that is per month.
janet
I think the leaf page is really beautiful. Awesome job!

Great journal pages all round & the leaf one is lovely ! Maybe on the pink ones you might knock them back with a bit of gesso & build up a bit again with something like a quote or thought in mind ? I find this helps when the pages have a mind of their own & leave me behind !! take care & thanks for stopping by ! Ali x #24
ReplyDeleteI love all of these pages - but sometimes if they are just not 'you' you are best to leave them and come back - then they either grow on you or you can see a way to make them 'yours' Chris 70
ReplyDeleteI'll have to try the spray less and from further away cause I have a horrible time spraying through stencils, just end up with a blob! Love the white pen doodling! waving hi from the hills of North Carolina :)
ReplyDeleteOh I love your journal pages, they look lovely! Beautiful colors and the leaves are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteHi Helen - I love the bluey green page. it's luscious!! Belated Happy WOYWW and hugs, Di xx
ReplyDeleteSpray less and from further away...I'm wondering if all the time on your knees has altered your perspective. It is great when a solution is relatively simple isn't it! Am admiring your staying power gal..not starting the new journal makes you a very strong person. But after the year you've had, I kinda knew that!
ReplyDeleteI've just got some of those inks and can't wait to finally get to use them. Your pages look fabulous, the colours are gorgeous. My white pen is naughty too, I'm always cleaning the end and shaking it.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week, see you in 2013.
Von #66
Helen, I love your pages and with the white doodling they really pop. That sentiment is one of my favorites. Sorry I am so late getting out but, with the time change of Julia's posting I don't get enough computer time. Oh well, I will try to do better in the future. #89
ReplyDeleteLove your journal. All the fantastic pieces I am seeing on here is inspiring me to start one myself in the New Year.Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz #98
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love white Gel pens? The great cure-all for everything.....
ReplyDeleteLove your journal pages, that leaf one is a stunner. My journal is a ring binder as well and it drives me nuts so I put one of the Moleskin ones on my letter to Santa - fingers crossed he has some in stock.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting yesterday and I'm sorry I've only just got round - been finishing one of the boxes on my desk - will blog it later.

Very pretty pages, Helen! Love the colors, and those leaves are one of my favorite stamps!
ReplyDeleteI really like the journal pages, but I do understand when something doesn't work for you...it is frustrating isn't it? Best put it away for a while and come back to it! Have fun! Laura xxx
ReplyDeleteThanks for the visit Helen.
ReplyDeleteLove those pages with Dylusion sprays - they're great but lethal in my hands - I get them EVERYWHERE!! Need to heed your tip of spray less and from further away!!
Really liked the last page with leaves - really effective background and the doodles worked well.
Happy WOYWW
