WOYWW 174

Well this is a bit of a different desk for me - like actually a desk!! -  I've been to craft club, a new one run by my sister-in-law who lives quite near me.  So we were out yesterday (Tuesday) The fact that I nearly forgot it was starting this week is neither here nor there.... woops! A hurried packing of some crafty supplies and....

This is my bag before I set off and, what I was playing at.... There is an autumn theme this time round!

Have desk, will make a mess.... this is my space at the end - everyone else was much tidier, and not using messy paint like me!!
My SIL (pointing) and her co-club runner Toni (standing)
Everyone was working on slightly different things - though the other ladies did use Lynne and Toni's kits and make some cards/tags.  One lady was doing some beautiful cross stitch.
It felt VERY odd working on a desk - I think I am better on the floor.... couldn't get a decent stamped image at all!!!
but these two pages in my journal are what I was playing at

There were so many things I wanted that I hadn't packed to take - must make a list before I forget.... like the white pen to highlight these leaves... still I can do that later now I'm home.

Next month's club has a sewing kit for tree decorations - I will NOT be doing that (can barely sew a button on) so I will be probably doing some Christmas cards....

So come along, share with us all (link here at the lovely Julia's) - what is on YOUR workdesk this Wednesday??

Your pages are stunning ...know what you mean about leaving things you need at home ...so frustrating.
The crop I went to now and then has closed ....not enough regulars each week to make it break even ....such a shame.

I couldn't sew a button on if someone PAID me. I can't grip a needle. That's why I'll stick with my sewing machine if I want to play around with anything sewn.

Sounds like this is a versatile group who either have crafting skills or want to learn those skills.

I can't sit to craft, so I can appreciate that you need the floor. It's what we get used to when we first start, I think. No number yet since Julia hasn't posted, but happy WOYWW anyway.

I love your new pages...good job! I like your desk too and it looks like the crowd was having a blast working on whatever they had a going on! Hope you had a good time even though you weren't on the floor! Have a great week. Vickie http://okienurse.blogspot.com

Yep, trying to pack a bag with the basics is always a struggle! Still, I'm glad you had a good time. Funny how we get used to where we craft and find things difficult if we change. Enjoy the group though. It's always nice to meet with like minded folk.

That looks just like Julia's card marathon last Saturday!! Glad you had a good time, I always forget stuff too, so you're not on your own...the slightly worrying thing is that I forget stuff even if I've made a list beforehand!!!! Tempus Fugit and all that....grin...

Looks like a fun get-together. Your journal pages look great too. Crafting on the floor is something I find myself doing too, my desk gets too full of stuff then instead of clearing a space... you know the rest, lol!

Thise pages are lovely..and despite the effort and mahoosive amount of packing, I like crafting in company, so I hope your group goes from strength to strength...the idea of a kit for each month is a pressure for your SiL, how good of her!
Makes me smile to think of a desk as an out of the ordinary surface to craft on!

The first time I went to a class I didn't take a thing - didn't know I needed to, had to beg and borrow! Your pages are beautiful, even without the white pen, love the colours you have used. Happy WOYWW, Anne x #13

How nice you've got a group going. I'm in one that's been meeting for 15 years. We all do different things and have speakers come in now and again, hold one day workshops sometimes and have days out. It's great. We've got a machine embroidery daynon Saturday where the ones that can do it show them that can't .

Looks like a fun evening, I'd be the messy one too - all part of the fun. :) I love your pages. I didn't realise you worked on the floor at home, am very impressed. I'd be able to get there, but doubt I'd get up again. ;)

Don't know how anyone manages a craft group having to pack up stuff and only having a fraction to work with. I used to go to one at my church but the timing wasn't good and I could never decide what to take and find it so much easier to stay at home. Love your journal pages and thanks for stopping by. BJ#6

Nothing better than crafting with friends. Haven't been able to get to my craft club for the last couple of meets and I miss it, and them, so much.
We also have problems getting a good image, must be the flex in the table, could could try taking a chopping board or other solid block - may help.

Looks like the group will be a real success. Love your pages!
I have a standard list on file with all the items I COULD need. I print off a copy whenever I am attending a class or teaching, or demming. I then scan down the list ticking off all the things I DO need for the day (and add anything extra needed) then I cross tick them once they are in my bag.
It hasn't failed me yet and if I'm teaching it would be a disaster if I missed something necessary.
Love Jo x
Thanks for popping in!

Happy WOYWW. I used to work on the floor a fair deal - good to spread out, but I can't get back up now and find my chair far more comfy. Jealous of you having a craft group to go to. I did find one fairly local, but not able to drive at the moment, so back to crafting in my own special room. Ali x #74

Love autumnal pages Helen and what a lovely bright room you had to produce them in. Sorry you prefer the floor LOL.
I too am unprepared when going to something like this. When teaching or dem'ing I am fine but attending something is a totally different ballgame. Guess the idea of crop type things is not really me. I never have the right stuff.
Thanks for sharing.

Those autumnal coloured pages look great. I know what you mean about forgetting to bring some of your supplies - I teach craft in school and I'm always discovering that I've left some critical item at home!

I certainly could not craft on the floor, I would never be able to get up again anyway. I do have to stand sometimes to place a stamp really accurately. Your craft club sounds great fun. I would think it teaches you to work in a small space and I am impressed with what you managed to achieve despite forgetting things. thank you for your visit today and your kind comments. Have a good week. xx Maggie #36

Love your pages. Great news about going out to a club, I think its wonderful to be able to sit amongst fellow crafters and just talk papers, paints, inks etc. Something we cant always do at home. Tracey ±93

Gorgeous pages Helen and glad that your SIL's group don't mind if you take different projects. I sometimes take something else to the Quilt Group and some of them get quite uppity if it isn't quilting! It is craft isn't it!!

Hi Helen, love your gorgeous pages, beautiful autumnal colours. I have a small plastic tool box on the floor next to me in which I keep essential things and tend to just pick it up if I am going to a class. Just have to think about the bigger things then.
Happy WOYWW.

I meet with a group of crafty ladies once a month with the idea that we work on our own projects and/or sometimes share projects and tools. We used to actually do stuff and now we never do, we just chat. So keep the focus and be sure to play! That is what it is all about. And I'm with you, I always forget something I'm bummed I don't have with me.

Hi Helen

what a refreshing change to see you playing above floor level!!! I think it's the first time I've personally seen you work on a desk - did the moon go purple or something? lol.

Love your journal page - I would like to pick your brain about it one day, because it's something I've elluded to before - but not with paint etc - that was before my crafting days... anyway, that can wait though.

Hope you are well and enjoyed your class. I was at a workshop with Steph Weightman this last Saturday - and boy - was I the last person to catch up on everything or what!!!! Talk about hopeless... thank goodness no one had a camera!!!

Big hugs to you - I'm at #131 this week...

Your pages are looking great. I am not a very good communal crafter, I usually take over everybody's space. LOL (Wonder why I never get invited to come back?)

And where are the piccies of YOU hard at work? :D I love that orange - it's so toasty and cosy!

Had to chuckle that you can only get a good stamped image on the floor - maybe I should try that... but I'd never get up again!

Love your pages - lucky that you have a club to go to - I have no where to go like that so the WOYWW meeting is really a big thing for me! Will you be coming too???
