WOYWW 147 - 28 March

Morning all, hope this find you enjoying a warm (if not hot!) Spring day again - we are blessed currently in the UK with our weather. Long may it continue, though we do need rain, really... I've updated to the new blogger interface (accidentally!) so I hope this schedule works!

Anyhow, you're here to see my workdesk courtesy of Julia at the Stamping Ground - which today is not very exciting, apart from a RAK (Random act of Kindness) gift I won from SimonSaysStamp (for a tweeted comment) last Thursday and which arrived on Tuesday - from the States, which I think is brilliant. Here it is -
some gelatos (I have seen Donna Downey use these so will enjoy them I am sure!) a Big Brush pen and a brush - thanks again, Simon Says.

This next photo is for Elizabeth (whose Altered Book course so many of us are following) - my "proper" camera - she has often commented on my love of photography and her lack of decent camera - this is what I take all my"Kew" photos with (click the fountain on the top of my side bar for my other blog!)
The standard lens is 25-80mm focal length and the big zoom is 75-300mm
When I win (ha ha) the lottery I will upgrade to a digital SLR camera  but for now it's a film one!
Anyhow, we are meant to keep our WOYWW posts short and sweet and once again I've failed, so I'll shut up now! Have a good week all.

  1. Oh Helen,

I love your camera. Those are the perfect lenses. The only thing you need to add is a 2X (two power) lens which will double the focal length of both your lenses. The cost is quite minimal (around $20 to $30 US dollars, but not sure what the conversion rate is at the moment), especially considering what I'm sure you spent on the long one.

Congrats on your win, too. Happy WOYWW from #3.

  2. I say that's one heck of a camera, still I say you get a better picture with film, but the convenience of digital and the ability to delete the naff shots is defo for me lol
congrats on your ickle win x

  3. Love the camera, not sure my skills would glean me any better photos no matter what I was using but film? Methinks not, I do appreciate the simplicity of digital and not having to wait for my photos to come back to find out I beheaded someone again... LOL Annette ~22

  6. Congratulations on the win. I love to win prizes. Great camera. The digital SLR is wonderful. I changed over a year ago and I love it. Not having to wait to see my photos is the best.

  7. Wow what a camera...I need to buy a new one as my poor specimen has been dropped (no-one is confessing) bounced and has the battery door hanging off! It still works great and we've been together quite some time and had some amazing journeys.

Glad the spring weather has arrived; remember to send it back this way later. :D

  12. Serious piece of kit there and you must be one of the few still taking film photos as digital seems to have completely taken over. I still have my old Canon AE and lenses at the back of the cupboard (a birthday gift from my late Dad years and years ago) used to develop my own as well, black and white only, but the enlarger and equipment went to the tip.

  14. Much as we loved our 35mm slides and prints, digital photography has made a huge impression on DH and me. I love the fact that you can shoot away happily, which means that you can be more daring and take a risk. I saved up for a year to buy DH a new camera, a Canon 7S. His face when he opened the box was a picture!! But it helps my blog too :)

PS My blog is a tad shorter, but it's the only one I do so I'm going to keep nattering away :)

Thanks for coming to see me and See you Friday I hope.

And don't worry, if I win before you, I'll get you the camera.Gelatos don't seem to have taken off here like they have over the pond...remember to let us know what you think, huh? 35. I own two digital cameras but both of them are smarter then I am and I struggle with anything other then point and shoot setting. I use my phone alot and it does okay for snap shot stuff. Hope you have a great week and thanks for sharing! Vickie #138

  36. Great to have a really good camera, even if it's still film. I used to really like our good Pentax, but it got "misappropriated" in our move to the States. The convenience of digital though is really hard to beat. Great surprise win, have sun with them and show us how they work out.

    Hugs

  38. I have an Olympus SLR which I bought in 1981 and I recently bought an Olympus DSLR, it's fun when you switch between the two.
One tip; if you do buy a DSLR try and get the same make as your SLR as the lenses fit, all you have to do is buy an addapter ring, which is really cheap.

I guess gelatos are like markers?

  49. I forgot to visit your blog yesterday! I like your camera, when I win the lottery I'm going to buy a 'proper' camera too. :) So nice to get a RAK, have you had a play with the Gelatos yet?

    ReplyDelete
  50. I've never used Gelatos before! Let us know how you get on with them will you? What speedy service!!
Fab camera, reminds me of my college days in the dark room :0)

  51. Nice win, Helen. Your camera is fab but it would scare me to death. I have a little Samsung digital camera which I am inordinately attached to for a whole host of reasons, not least because it has a wee fairy inside it that counters the problems I have with shaky hands and so I can now take shots I wouldn't have risked before ... it's the little things that make us happy :) Here's hoping you win the lottery sometime soon and you can get your wish. In the meantime, I wish you a great week. Elizabeth x #145

  52. You will love digital although I miss film pictures from time to time. Being able to hold them in your hand and remember is worth it.

Well, thats a big beast Helen - I've got some little bitty automatic camera - but it suits me cos I only take pics of the dogs, cats and cards. I'll never make it into the National Geographic lol...

  56. That camera is a fantastic piece of kit, and you should have a wonderful time learning how to get the best from it. I agree about digital over film, at least we can take as many as we like without it costing us a fortune to print the rubbish ones. By the way, not sure what your weather has been like today, but we did actually get a few spots of misty rain today - better than nothing. Have a good week. xx Maggie #7

  57. Great camera, but I know what you mean about the digi SLR, I'm actually taking hubby out to look for a new camera for me today as mine is a hunk of junk, but I doubt he'll let me splurge on the one I really want- MEN! Happy WOYWW Mari #55
